Without You (Nguzunguzu Remix)

Rainbow Arabia’s “Without You” is three and a half minutes long. This remix is basically the first four seconds on repeat. Feeling like Nguzunguzu are into big twigs as drumsticks. Rainbow Arabia into it, but they take the forest and put it in a museum, installation of found objects, mosaic of ragtag. Nguzunguzu just sitting in a circle on dirt floor, making music with their mouths, face painted, talking about thunder gods and recording the sound of the sky. It sounds funky, turns out. You could play this at the Tate Modern or at Burning Man. Sounds like serious taiko drum jam out of computer speakers, like Sharper Image selling rain sticks. -The Fader

Rapper/DJ Spoek Mathambo has become an increasingly prominent figure in the international music scene over the last couple of years and is a front-man for electrorap outfits SWEAT.X and PLAYDOE. The 24-year-old recently finished recording his solo album Mshini Wam for BBE and has built a live band (which includes two dancers) with which he will tour.

One Step Beyond continues with its fourth season in November at the American Museum of Natural History, presented with The Fader magazine. During this ongoing party series, guests can dance in the Museum’s Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Hall of the Universe to the sounds of the biggest names in techno, electronica, hip-hop, and indie rock.

Guests can also enjoy a complimentary screening of one of the breathtaking Hayden Planetarium Space Shows. November’s feature is The Search for Life: Are We Alone? narrated by Harrison Ford. This breathtaking Space Show explores a question that has always captivated the imagination: Does life exist beyond Earth? A beer and wine bar keeps the party going. Each ticket also includes one pass to the Museum for future use.

In January, we were fortunate enough to be invited to play a couple shows down in Brazil. While we were there, we spontaneously organized a video shoot. It was all shot on an SLR and flip camera. We pulled together some cool peeps from our gig in Rio and dressed them up with some MJ costumes that Tiffany and I put together the night before. I think the video itself explains the fun and beauty of brazil.
